Hi, I’m Rebecca Kinman (she/they), a licensed clinical social worker with a background in senior services, disability services, and holistic health. I’m neurodivergent, Queer, and gender non-conforming, and I work with both teens and adults.
My path to becoming a therapist started in 2016, during a turning point in my own mental health journey. I was supported by an amazing team—therapists, doctors, social workers, crisis workers, friends, and family. One therapist in particular made a lasting impact on me through her care and approach. That experience inspired me to return to school to become a therapist myself.
In 2022, I was diagnosed with ADHD at age 42. That diagnosis brought a new level of understanding and deepened my commitment to supporting others who’ve had similar experiences.
I hold a Bachelor’s in Women, Gender, and Sexuality Studies and a Master’s in Clinical Social Work, both from Portland State University. My academic and clinical work has focused on racial equity, trauma-informed care, LGBTQIA+ aging, feminist and solution-focused therapy, migration, and anti-oppressive care. I’ve also received post-graduate training in working with ADHD, Bipolar I & II, OCD, and more.
My approach is often structured, relational, and client-centered. I draw from modalities like DBT, ACT, and psychodynamic therapy. I’ve supported clients working through depression, anxiety, trauma, ADHD, Autism, gender dysphoria, mood disorders, and life transitions. I’m especially interested in offering alternatives to traditional "talk therapy." Consent and client choice are central to my work, and I focus on developing practical strategies that fit into everyday life.
When I’m not working, I enjoy time with my kid and my cats, spending time outdoors, and listening to live music.
